Bolt 9.85 in Zagreb; 5 meet records
World record holder Usain Bolt remains undefeated with a solid win at the IAAF world challenge meeting in Zagreb, the 61st edition of Hanzekovic Memorial. Bolt clocked 9.85 (+0.1) to beat World bronze medalist Kim Collins (10.01) and Richard Thompson (10.03). Packed stadium witnessed in total 5 meet records Dayron Robles once again proved his position among the top hurdles with another win in the 110H with 13.00 (-0.2). Jason Richardson keeps improving with 13.04 over David Oliver (13.20). Strong performances in the 1500m race as well with Kenyan Nixon Chepseba clocking 3:30.94 over Turkish Iham Ozbilen (3:31.37, national record). Artur Ostrowski clocked new Polish record as 6th 3:34.45. LaShawn Merritt (45.22) took an easy victory over compatriot Greg Nixon (45.73) in the 400m.American shot putters were back on top with Reese Hoffa taking the win with a heave of 21.73. Christian Cantwell (21.55) and Dylan Armstrong (21.40) came in second and third. Russian youngster Alexander Menkov (818) took victory in the long jump.
Carmelita Jeter lit up the women's sprints with a 11.00 win in the 100m (-0.5) ahead of Schillonie Calvert (11.13). She then won the 200 m in personal best 22.55 (-0.2). Novlene Williams-Mills (50.31) held off Russia's Anastasiya Kapachinskaya (50.40) and Shericka Willimas (50.45). Christine Ohuruogu finished in fourth (50.85).
Sally Pearson remains unbeaten this season with a 12.68 (-0.4) victory over Dawn Harper (12.81). Anna Chicherova stays on top with a win over Blanka Vlasic, both with a jump over 200. Four Kenyans clocked sub 8:20, winner Hillary Yego 8:12.81.
World leader Zoltan Kovago was the best in discus with 64.91. In excellent hammer competition Krisztian Pars was beaten by two throwers (79.86). Dilshod Nazarov 80.30 and Primoz Kozmus 80.28 achieved season bests. World finalist Meggie Vassey clocked impressive 1:58.64 in the women 800 m ahead of Cuban Yuneisy Santiusti who lives in Italy (1:58.70 PB). Olga Zaytseva leaped top 673 win in the long jump.
