IAAF World Challenge

Starting in 2010 the FBK-Games are part of the IAAF World Challenge, the second highest level world wide. Starting in 2010 the Diamond League is the highest level of athletic events world wide. The 13organizations (with 14 events) that are part of the Diamond League are co-shareholder of the Diamond League AG. The IAAF also has 25% of the shares.
Together with Berlin, Ostrava and Rome the FBK-Games have been in a race for the 14th place in the Diamond League. Eventually the choice has been made for Rome. ‘Hengelo’, as the FBK-Games are international called, has a good reputation world wide and is still a serious candidate for the Diamond League in the future. A disadvantage for the FBK-Games is that there are already many Western-European events part of the Diamond League.
Together with the Diamond League and the IAAF World Challenge, the two highest levels of events world wide there are also different meets by continent. In Europe these events take place on three levels. The highest level is called the European Premium League. The Netherlands doesn’t have any meets at any of the three European levels. By right it can be said that the FBK-Games stand out as the number one athletic event in the Netherlands. More information about the European events can be found here.
